artSümer will be hosting the first solo show of Tayfun Serttaş at the gallery between 13 January -18 February. “Middle East Airlines” will consist of the artist’s works of the last two years that have concentrated on the eastern Mediterranean region. Settaş’s ongoing research within this framework extends to the larger Middle East Project and encompasses the ever-changing political dynamics of the region, its archeological treasures, and historical post-colonial quandary. “Middle East Airlines” is an important exhibition in that it is his first exhibition to be held inTurkey to include this ongoing and complex project.
Researcher and artist Tayfun Serttaş brings together different art forms as collage, installation, photography, found material and drawing in this exhibition. He expresses that Middle East Airlines is the story of “a forced meeting wherein linear truth transforms into psychic reality.
